How about one in the dead of winter?
For perhaps 25 years, NEORQC (Northeast Ohio Regional Quilt Council) been hosting an annual winter Getaway weekend with a wide range of workshops. This winter it will be held at the Clarion Inn and Conference Center in Hudson, Ohio -- conveniently at an Ohio Turnpike exit. The dates are Friday, 2/20 through Sunday 2/22, 2015.
This year's workshops have just been posted and you have a few weeks to look them over and make decisions about your first choice! Registration begins on 8/1/2014 and continues through 9/30/2014. You spend the entire weekend with one teacher focusing on one project. Lodging, meals, and the workshop are all included in the price (which varies a bit by the number of friends in a room)!
Of course I think you should register for my workshop!! This is an early picture of the project -- before borders and before quilting!! The picture posted on the Getaway site is the finished product!
I made this one using 1 1/2" hexagons and it's a nice lap robe size quilt, but I allow students to pick any size hexagon. Using 1" hexagons would yield a center motif that is 21" by 34" -- perfect for a table topper. Jump to a 3" hexagon and you have the center of a twin quilt!!
And it's the perfect project for learning to use the exciting technique of chain-piecing through set-in seams which is the focus of my DVD workshop, Set-In Piecing Simplified, to piece hexagons.
So, check it out here!! There are 16 other classes offered and while I want mine to be a "GO", I'm sure you'll find something to catch your fancy.
